An Avianca Airbus A320-200, registration N740AV performing flight
AV-8524 from Bogota to Barranquilla (Colombia), was climbing through FL360 out of Bogota when the crew decided to divert to Monteria (Colombia) due to electrical problems. THe aircraft landed safely on Monteria's runway 32 about 30 minutes after stopping the climb and about one hour after departure.
A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration N398AV reached Barranquilla with a delay of about 3:45 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Monteria about 28 hours after landing.
The airline reported the aircraft diverted after the crew received an alert for the electrical system.
On Oct 9th 2023 Colombia's DIACC reported the aircraft sustained problems with both Generator 1 and Generator 2, Generator 2 was entirely down, the APU was started and the aircraft flew with Generator 1, APU and RAT until landing. The aircraft returned to service on Sep 21st 2023. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by Colombia's DIACC.
