An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-GKOD performing flight
AC-289 from Terrace,BC to Vancouver,BC (Canada) with 124 people on board, was descending through FL200 towards Vancouver when the crew received a Flap System 1 fault warning, the flap slat indicator turned yellow for a number of seconds. Subsequently the crew noticed a strong acrid odour in the cockpit and declared PAN PAN. The aircraft landed safely on Vancouver's runway 08L about 22 minutes later.
The Canadian TSB reported the odour dissipated, the aircraft landed and taxied to the gate. Maintenance replaced the #1 System Data Acquisition Concentrator, due to the odour the recirculation filters were also inspected and replaced. No further faults were found.
