A Cargojet Airways Boeing 767-300, registration C-FGSJ performing freight flight W8-979 from Cincinnati,KY (USA) to East Midlands,EN (UK) with 2 crew, was descending through FL200 towards East Midlands when the flight crew noticed the autopilot, still engaged, was not able to maintain the commanded heading anymore followed by an EICAS Autopilot message. The crew disengaged the autopilot and found the ailerons were restricted/jammed. The crew worked the related checklist without success, declared PAN PAN and continued for an approach to runway 27. While on final approach to the runway descending through about 2600 feet AGL the ailerons returned to normal operation and the aircraft landed safely.
