A Cargojet Airways Boeing 767-300 freighter, registration C-FDIJ performing flight W8-740 from Iqaluit,NU to Ottawa,ON (Canada) with 2 crew, was climbing out of Iqaluit when the crew heard a thud from the right hand side and observed a loss of power from the right hand engine (CF6). The crew levelled off at 16,000 feet, declared emergency and returned to Iqaluit for a safe landing on runway 16 about 22 minutes after departure.
The Canadian TSB reported maintenance inspected the right hand engine and found significant internal damage. The engine was replaced.
