A Cargojet Boeing 767-300, registration C-GOCJ performing flight W8-584 from Vancouver,BC to Hamilton,ON (Canada) with 2 crew, was climbing out of Vancouver, when shortly after departure the crew received a "R HYD SYS PRESS" message along with the associated "SYS PRESS" light illuminated. The crew established the enroute climb, worked the related checklists which required the right hydraulic system to be disabled. The crew declared PAN PAN and returned to Vancouver for a safe landing. Emergency services inspected the aircraft but did not find any leakages.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft did not need to dump fuel being within 2000 lbs of the maximum certified landing weight. Maintenance tested the hydraulic system and found the defect was an indication only issue. The hydraulic pressure switch was replaced and an overweight landing inspection completed.
