A Cargolux Boeing 747-8, registration LX-VCN performing flight CV-9745 from Novosibirsk (Russia) to Zhengzhou (China) with 4 crew and 118 tons of cargo, was climbing out of Novosibirsk's runway 25 when the crew stopped the climb at 7000 feet due to a problem with the landing gear. The aircraft returned to Novosibirsk for a safe landing on runway 25 about 50 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for 11.5 hours, then attempted to depart again but needed to return again due to the same problem, see Incident: Cargolux B748 at Novosibirsk on Dec 4th 2020, gear problem on departure.

On Dec 4th 2020 Westsiberia's Transport Investigation Department reported a sensor indicated the right main gear could not be retracted, the same problem occurred again the following day, therefore the department dispatched an investigation team on site to check the circumstances of the occurrences and establish whether violations of safety regulations have occurred.
