An Air Falcon Boeing 737-300 freighter, registration AP-BNZ performing flight FPK-316 from Hargeisa (Somaliland/Somalia) via Bosaso (Puntland/Somalia) to Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), departed Hargeisa's runway 24, climbed to FL330 and landed in Bosaso. Following the intermediate stop the aircraft climbed to FL350 enroute and landed on Sharjah's runway 30 about 6:15 hours after departure from Hargeisa.

A post flight inspection revealed an unknown object had collided with the aircraft's left horizontal stabilizer causing two holes in the leading edge of the left horizontal stabilizer and leaving dents and penetrations on the elevator as well as the vertical rudder.

The aircraft is undergoing temporary repairs in Sharjah before positioning to its home base in Pakistan for final repair. The aircraft is still on the ground in Sharjah about 52 hours after landing.

On Apr 29th 2021 a reader made The Aviation Herald aware, that there was a gap in the available data transmitted by the transponder between 09:53Z and 13:11Z. At 09:53Z the aircraft had been at FL329 about 73nm west of Bosaso (Puntland/Somalia), then was no longer received until 13:11Z, when the aircraft resurfaced at FL350 about 260nm eastnortheast from their previously last Mode-S position. The Aviation Herald thus checked the possibilities of the aircraft having made an intermediate stop in Bosaso (Puntland, Somalia), in Diyan (Yemen) or even Aden (Yemen). On Apr 30th 2021 it became known, that Puntland's CAA had released a NOTAM during Apr 26th 2021 indicating there was work in progress at Bosaso's runway end safety area of runway 27, which was quickly replaced by another NOTAM advising caution to crews for takeoff and landing due to work in progress at the runway end surface area of runway 27, the threshold of runway 27 was displaced by 200 meters due to that work. The only difference between the two NOTAMs is the starting point of the works in progress, initially reported on Apr 27th 2021 03:30UTC, then on Apr 27th 2021 07:30Z.

On Apr 30th 2021 The Aviation Herald received information, that pieces of Asphalt were found to have caused the damage of the tailplane, also affecting the APU access door and APU housing. The aircraft is being repaired.

On May 6th 2021 the airline told The Aviation Herald, that the aircraft actually performed several planned sectors that day taking the aircraft from Sharjah to Hargeisa and further to Bosasa as flight FPK-315 carrying general cargo (Mobile Accessories, garments, shoes, juices) and from Bosaso to Sharjah as flight FPK-316 carrying frozen lobsters. According to the log book entries made by the captain the aircraft landed in Bosaso at 10:13Z and departed Bosaso again at 12:40Z. The airline stated: "All phases of the flight between BSA to SHJ remained smooth and normal. No abnormality was observed or nor any incident of any sort was reported by operating Captain during flight. After Arrival at SHJ, while carrying out Post (Flight Walk Around), The Crew observed and reported dent/ damage on Leading Edge of Left Horizontal Stabilizer and APU Access door. This post flight incident as observed by the crew was most probably caused by FOD (Foreign Object Damage) during takeoff out of BSA Bosaso. UAE CAA (DCA) was informed immediately by the operating crew, Mandatory Occurrence Report (MOR) was raised and incident report was filed, also PCAA was informed accordingly and Aircraft was grounded at SHJ for detail inspection and Repair."
