A Fedex Federal Express McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter, registration N595FE performing flight FX-130 from Memphis,TN (USA) to Montreal Mirabel,QC (Canada) with 2 crew, was on final approach to Mirabel's runway 24 when the crew received indication of a hydraulic leak. The crew worked the related checklist, continued for a safe landing and vacated the runway. A forward cargo compartment smoke indication occurred, the crew stopped the aircraft, declared Mayday, emergency services responded but did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke. The aircraft was towed to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported a post flight inspection determined it was likely the smoke/fire indication was triggered by the detection of hydraulic fluid particles spilled during the final approach.
