A Finnair Airbus A319-100, registration OH-LVL performing flight
AY-601 from Helsinki to Ivalo (Finland) with 73 people on board, landed on Ivalo's runway 22 but veered to the left and collided with a snowbank aside of the runway. There were no injuries, the aircraft received minor damage.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5 hours, then was able to depart for the return flight and reached Helsinki with a delay of 4 hours.
Finnair reported the aircraft began to drift at low speed and contacted a snow bank with one of the landing gears. The aircraft was subsequently towed to the apron. A minor fault was found with one of the engines (CFM56) which is supposed to be the result of the crew trying to stop the aircraft before the 15cm high snowbank.
