A Flightline Swearingen SA-227AC Metro, registration EC-GPS performing freight flight FTL-832 from Zaragoza,SP (Spain) to Brno (Czech Republic) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL240 entering Austrian Airspace near Lienz (Austria) when the crew did not check in with ATC. Two Eurofighters were dispatched from Zeltweg (Austria) to intercept the aircraft, after the rendervouz radio contact was re-established and the Metro continued to Brno without further incident.
Austria's Ministry of Defense reported there was no radio contact established, as it was unclear whether the crew got sick or the aircraft had been hijacked, the Eurofighters were dispatched. It subsequently turned out that the crew had simply forgotten to switch frequency.
