An Air Inuit Boeing 737-200, registration C-GMAI performing flight 3H-754 from Donaldson,QC to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 52 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing out of Donaldson when at FL180 when the inside edge of the left hand slat was observed to be in an asymmetric position. Although the controllability of the aircraft was not significantly affected the crew stopped the climb at FL270, declared emergency and decided to divert to Puvirnituq,QC (Canada) where the aircraft landed without further incident.

The Canadian TSB reported the inboard slat actuator was replaced.
