A JAC Japan Air Commuter Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration JA08JC performing flight JC-3741 from Kagoshima to Yakushima (Japan) with 71 people on board, was climbing out of Kagoshima's runway 34 when the crew stopped the climb at 10000 feet reporting they could not retract the landing gear as the gear lever was stuck. The aircraft returned to Kagoshima for a safe landing on runway 34 about 30 minutes after departure.

The rotation was cancelled.

The aircraft was able to return to service about 2.5 hours after landing.
