A Jazz Aviation Canadair CRJ-705, registration C-FUJZ performing flight QK-8172 from Winnipeg,MB to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 69 passengers and 4 crew, was enroute at FL290 about 200nm northwest of Thunder Bay,ON (Canada) when the crew received a brakes overheat indication. The crew descended the aircraft to FL210, extended the landing gear and lost the temperature indication. Being unsure about the status of the brakes the crew decided to divert to Thunder Bay where the aircraft landed without further incident about 40 minutes after leaving FL290.

The Canadian TSB reported the right inboard proximity sensor harness was replaced after a short circuit was discovered.
