A Lion Air Boeing 737-800, registration PK-LKK performing flight
JT-330 from Jakarta to Palembang (Indonesia) with 169 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Jakarta's runway 25R when the left hand engine emitted streaks of flame prompting the crew to stop the climb at 3000 feet and return to Jakarta for a safe landing on runway 25R about 30 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration PK-LOP reached Palembang with a delay of 4 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Jakarta about 27 hours after landing back.
The airline reported engine trouble but denied engine fire as reported by local media as cause of the return.
