A Maximus Air Cargo Antonov AN-124, registration UR-ZYD performing flight MXM-3726 from Bechar (Algeria) to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), was on final approach to Riyadh's runway 15L in night conditions, when the aircraft touched down about 172 meters/560 feet before the runway threshold and about 11 meters/36 feet to the left of the extended runway center line, rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron.

The aircraft departed for its next flight MXM-3725 to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) about 2.5 hours after landing.

On May 25th 2023 Ukraine's NBAAI reported the crew did not report the occurrence, damage to the approach lights runway 15L was discovered only the following morning when the aircraft had already departed again. Based on radar data and ground track data (distances between wheels) UR-ZYD was identified to have landed short of the runway contacting the approach lights 172 meters before the runway threshold and leaving a wheel track of about 120 meters length on compacted soil at 21:16Z (Jan 14th 2022). Due to the fact that the aircraft had departed again already, no cockpit voice recorder or flight data recorder data are available to the investigation making an investigation impossible.
