A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-800, registration LN-ENS performing flight DY-1078 from Trondheim (Norway) to Riga (Latvia), was in the initial climb out of Trondheim's runway 09 when a bird impacted the aircraft just above the left windshield prompting the crew to stop the climb at 1500 feet and return to Trondheim for a safe landing on runway 09 about 8 minutes after departure.

A large dent above the left hand windshield was observed.

The flight as well as the return flight DY-1079 were cancelled.
