A Qantas Boeing 737-800, registration VH-VZB performing flight
QF-1070 from Perth,WA to Broome,WA (Australia), was climbing out of Perth's runway 03 when the captain stopped the climb at about 6000 feet initially reporting they had a technical problem subsequently correcting the cause (unreadable). The aircraft returned to Perth for a safe landing on runway 03 about 45 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration VH-VXL reached Broome with a delay of about 3 hours.
A ground observer and listener on frequency reported the first officer became incapacitated, after landing the first officer was taken away in a taxi.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service on Jul 2nd 2023.
On Jul 2nd 2023 The Aviation Herald received additional information that the first officer had suffered a gastric diarrhoe. After return he went home in a taxi accompanied by the station manager.
