A Qantas Boeing 737-800, registration VH-XZL performing flight
QF-769 from Melbourne,VI to Perth,WA (Australia), was climbing through FL270 out of Melbourne when the crew decided to return to Melbourne reporting an electrical smell on the flight deck. The aircraft landed safely back on Melbourne's runway 16 about 40 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration VH-XZN reached Perth with a delay of about 5:45 hours.
