A Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300, registration A7-BAI performing flight
QR-989 from Melbourne,VI (Australia) to Doha (Qatar), was climbing out of Melbourne's runway 16 when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet reporting problems with the flaps. After working the checklists the crew climbed the aircraft to FL130, dumped fuel and returned to Melbourne for a safe landing at a higher than normal speed (about 190 knots over ground) on runway 16 about 90 minutes after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Melbourne for 24 hours, then departed again as flight
QR-989D and reached Doha with a delay of about 25 hours.
