A Republic Airways Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of United, registration N767YX performing flight
UA-3475 from Hartford,CT to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was climbing out of Hartford's runway 24 when at about 400 feet AGL a bird impacted the nose of the aircraft. The crew stopped the climb at about 4000 feet and entered a hold, then decided to divert to Newark,NJ, climbed to 6000 feet advising ATC they needed to continue at relatively low speed (about 210 KIAS). The aircraft landed safely on Newark's runway 04R about 90 minutes after departure.
The aircraft departed again after about 2 hours on the ground and reached Chicago with a delay of about 3.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Chicago about 11 hours after landing.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BIRD DAMAGING NOSE CONE, NEWARK, NJ."
