A Republic Airways Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N401YX performing flight
AA-4837 from Indianapolis,IN to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was accelerating for takeoff from Indianapolis's runway 05L when the crew rejected takeoff at low speed (about 35 knots over ground) reporting smoke in the cabin. The aircraft slowed safely and vacated the runway.
A replacement Embraer ERJ-175 registration N136HQ reached Chicago with a delay of 2:15 hours.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 24 hours, then attempted another flight but needed to return to the gate from the hold short and remained on the ground until Jun 6th 2022.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT ABORTED TAKEOFF DUE TO SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT, TAXIED OFF RUNWAY AND EVACUATED THE PLANE VIA CHUTES, INDIANAPOLIS, IN.", one passenger received a minor injury, the damage to the aircraft was unknown.
