A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration N8723Q performing flight
WN-1281 from Oakland,CA to Kahului,HI (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 630nm southwest of Oakland when the crew decided to return to Oakland due to a hydraulic problem. The aircraft maintained FL360 for the return and landed safely back on Oakland's runway 30 about 3 hours after departure. Maintenance checked the left hand side of the aircraft for hydraulic leaks.
A replacement Boeing 737-8 MAX registration N8737L reached Kahului with a delay of 5.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Oakland about 24 hours after landing back.
