A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N295WN performing flight
WN-1859 from Milwaukee,WI to Baltimore,MD (USA) with 138 people on board, was climbing out of Milwaukee's runway 19R when the crew stopped the climb at about 5000 feet after the right hand engine emitted a number of bangs and streaks of flames. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Milwaukee for a safe landing on runway 19R about 15 minutes after departure.
A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration N952WN reached Baltimore with a delay of about 3 hours.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 34 hours on the ground.
