A Spirit Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N668NK performing flight flight NK-2177 from Nashville,TN to Philadelphia,PA (USA), was climbing out of Nashville's runway 02C when a number of birds impacted the aircraft causing damage to the windshield. The aircraft stopped the climb at 5000 feet and returned to Nashville for a safe landing on runway 02L about 20 minutes after departure.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK BIRDS ON TAKEOFF DAMAGING WINDSHIELD, NASHVILLE, TN."
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 43.5 hours before returning to service.
