A United Airbus A320-200, registration N455UA performing flight UA-1137 (dep Apr 5th) from Las Vegas,NV to Washington Dulles,DC (USA), was enroute at FL330 about 130nm southsoutheast of Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Chicago reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft landed safely on O'Hare's runway 09C about 40 minutes after leaving FL330.

A passenger reported the aircraft had been flying in moderate to severe turbulence for a while. When the turbulence calmed down over Indiana the captain announced they had a hydraulic failure. Although they would technically be able to continue to Washington, they were going to divert to Chicago. They would have no steering and braking and would needed to be towed off the runway. About 40 minutes after landing the aircraft was towed off the runway to the terminal, where the passengers disembarked and boarded another aircraft.

A replacement A320-200 registration N490UA reached Washington with a delay of 3:45 hours.
