UA-2380 from San Francisco,CA to Honolulu,HI (USA) with 223 passengers and 7 crew, was enroute at FL340 over the Pacific Ocean about 240nm westsouthwest of San Francisco when the crew descended the aircraft to FL290, turned around and returned to San Francisco, where the aircraft landed on runway 28R about 100 minutes after departure.
The FAA reported the aircraft returned due to rudder issues.
The airline reported a mechanical issue.
A replacement Boeing 757-300 registration N75851 reached Honolulu with a delay of about 5 hours.
