A United Boeing 767-300, registration N666UA performing flight
UA-12 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was on final approach to Chicago's runway 28C when an evacuation slide separated from the aircraft and landed in a backyard of a house underneath the final approach path about 2.3nm short of the runway threshold. The aircraft continued for a safe landing. There were no injuries, the roof of a house impacted by the slide was damaged.
The FAA reported maintenance workers noticed the missing slide after landing.
The residents in that house heard the impact while inside the house, went outside and found the slide in their backyard. They dragged the slide into the front of their home where police took care of it.
Local police confirmed they were responding to an incident at that location.
