A UPS United Parcel Service McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter, registration N270UP performing flight 5X-2111 from New York JFK,NY to Louisville,KY (USA), was climbing out of JFK's runway 31L when the crew stopped the climb at about 11,000 feet due to the failure of the #3 engine (PW4460, right hand engine). The aircraft returned to JFK for a safe landing on runway 04L about 25 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in New York about 67 hours after landing back.
