An Air Wisconsin Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of United, registration N464AW performing flight
UA-4867 from Washington Dulles,DC to Bangor,ME (USA) with 48 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing through FL310 out of Washington when the crew donned their oxygen masks and initiated an emergency descent due to problems with the cabin pressure. The aircraft diverted to New York's JFK airport for a safe landing on runway 22L about 15 minutes after leaving FL310.
The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground at JFK about 13 hours after landing.
