A ACT Airlines Boeing 747-400 on behalf of THY Turkish Airlines, registration TC-ACF performing flight TK-6551 from Shannon (Ireland) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 5 crew, was climbing out of Shannon's runway 24 when the crew reported engine (CF6) problems and advised they were maintaining runway heading, the aircraft levelled off at 3000 feet MSL. The crew subsequently reported they had shut down engine #2 (inboard left hand). The aircraft proceeded to dump fuel and landed safely back on Shannon's runway 24 about 110 minutes after departure.
