An Aerovias DAP Avro RJ-100, registration CC-ARN performing flight V5-940 from Punta Arenas to King George Island (Chile), landed on Antarctica's King George Airport's runway 11 when the tail of the aircraft contacted the runway surface. The aircraft rolled out without further incident.

A replacement RJ-100 registration CC-ATI was dispatched to King George Island, taking investigators of Chile's DGCA with it, and performed the return flight with a delay of about 10 hours.

The occurrence aircraft was able to position back to Punta Arenas about 31 hours after landing, remained on the ground in Punta Arenas for another 80 hours before returning to service.

Chile's DGCA reported investigators travelled to King George Island to investigate an incident by an aircraft of Aerovias DAP.
