An Alaska Airlines Airbus A321-200N, registration N924VA performing flight
AS-440 from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Cancun (Mexico), was enroute at FL350 about 240nm southwest of Austin,TX (USA) already in Mexican Airspace, when the crew decided to divert to Austin reporting a hydraulic failure, they needed to be towed off the runway. The aircraft landed safely on Austin's runway 36L about 45 minutes after leaving FL350, vacated the runway and stopped clear of the runway. The aircraft was towed to the apron.
A replacement Boeing 737-900 registration N477AS reached Cancun with a delay of about 7.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Austin about 17 hours after landing.
