An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N965NN performing flight
AA-1037 from Phoenix,AZ to Reno,NV (USA), departed Phoenix's runway 25R and was climbing. In the meantime tower had queried another departure whether they had seen any foreign objects on the runway with a negative reply, a runway inspection was carried out and found tyre debris, the aircraft was informed that a ground observer had seen a tyre separate during their departure. The crew responded to continue their climb. The crew subsequently stopped the climb at FL240 and returned to Phoenix for a landing without further incident on runway 26 about 35 minutes after departure.
The FAA reported: "American Airlines Flight 1037 safely returned to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport around 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Dec. 4, after the crew reported a tire issue shortly after taking off. The Boeing 737 had departed for Reno Tahoe International Airport in Nevada."
