An American Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration N734AR performing flight AA-735 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Charlotte,NC (USA), was enroute at FL320 about 40nm north of Manchester,EN (UK) when the crew decided to return to Heathrow after the aircraft sustained multiple lightning strikes. The aircraft landed safely back on Heathrow's runway 27R about 75 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 23.5 hours, then positioned to Charlotte and resumed service.
