An American Airlines Boeing 787-9, registration N836AA performing flight
AA-90 from Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was climbing through about FL270 out of Chicago when the right hand engine (GEnx) failed prompting the crew to shut the engine down, drift down to 10,000 feet and return to Chicago for a safe landing on runway 28C about 45 minutes after departure. Emergency services followed the aircraft to the apron.
A passenger reported the crew announced the right hand engine had failed.
