An ANZ Air New Zealand Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration ZK-MVM performing flight NZ-5777 from Napier to Christchurch (New Zealand), was descending towards Christchurch when the crew received a smoke indication, declared emergency and continued for a safe landing in Christchurch.

Emergency services reported they were told about a potential engine fire, but didn't need to intervene.

The airline reported a smoke indicator light came on, the crew activated emergency services, however no smoke or fire was found and the passengers disembarked normally.
