An ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9, registration ZK-NZJ performing flight NZ-99 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Tokyo Narita (Japan), was enroute at FL360 about 1360nm north of Auckland when the crew decided to return to Auckland after the right hand windshield cracked. The aircraft descended to FL350 for the flight back and landed safely in Auckland about 2:50 hours after turning around.

The airline reported the outer pane of the windshield was damaged. The passengers are being rebooked onto the next flights.
