An ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9, registration ZK-NZQ performing flight
NZ-26 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was enroute at FL330 over the Pacific Ocean about 690nm northnortheast of Auckland when the crew decided to return to Auckland due to fuel discrepancies. The aircraft descended to FL180 and dumped fuel on the way back and landed safely back in Auckland about 3:20 hours after departure.
The flight was cancelled.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Auckland 4 days later (standing Jun 27th 2023).
On Jun 27th 2023 The Aviation Herald received additional information, that there was a fuel leak at one of the engines (Trent 1000), the engine was shut down and secured.
