An Austrian Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration OE-LXE performing flight
OS-794 from Sofia (Bulgaria) to Vienna (Austria), was lining up Sofia's runway 27 for departure when cabin crew observed a pungent chemical odour in the forward galley and first seat row. The aircraft departed, the smell was no longer observed until on approach into Vienna, when it was observed again. The aircraft landed on Vienna's runway 34 about 70 minutes after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Vienna for about 5.5 hours (the aircraft's transponder became visible in between with callsign "MAINT") before returning to service.
