An Austrian Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration OE-LAY performing flight OS-87 from Vienna (Austria) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was climbing out of Vienna's runway 34 when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet reporting a bird strike. The aircraft entered a hold and returned to Vienna for a safe landing on runway 34 about 50 minutes after departure.

The airline confirmed a bird strike, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
