An Avianca Ecuador Airbus A320-200, registration HC-CSF performing flight
AV-8372 from Quito (Ecuador) to Bogota (Colombia), was on final approach to Bogota's runway 14L but initiated a go around at low height at 11:11L (16:11Z). The aircraft touched down briefly with its tail contacting the runway surface before climbing out, positioned for another approach and landed without further incident.
The aircraft continued its schedule flying three more sectors.
Ecuador's JIA reported the aircraft went around due to wind conditions, during the go around the aircraft touched down briefly, the next approach was without incident. The next day damage was discovered to the water drain mast at the bottom of the fuselage. The damage was rated minor, the occurrence was rated a serious incident.
The aircraft returned to service on Nov 24th 2024.
