An Emirates Boeing 777-300, registration A6-ENT performing flight EK-508 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Mumbai (India), was on approach to Mumbai's runway 27, however received a number of impacts by flamingos. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron.

A inspection of the impact site 3nm before the runway threshold recovered the carcasses of 29 Flamingos, the following morning 7 more carcasses were found.

The airline confirmed the aircraft was involved in a bird strike incident. The aircraft landed safely, but sadly a number of Flamingos were lost. The airline is cooperating with authorities on that matter. The passengers on the return flight were accomodated over night and are being taken to Dubai by a replacement aircraft.

The return flight was cancelled, the aircraft is still on the ground in Mumbai about 26 hours after landing.
