An Eurowings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWJ performing positioning flight EW-6970 from Hamburg to Dusseldorf (Germany) with 2 crew, was climbing out of Hamburg's runway 33 when the crew stopped the climb at about FL190 reporting some odour on the flight deck. The crew decided to return to Hamburg for a safe landing on runway 23 about 20 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Hamburg about 20 hours after landing back.

The airport reported the pilots noticed a strange odour in the cockpit during the climb and returned to Hamburg.
