A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321-200N, registration N611FR performing flight F9-1759 from Charlotte,NC to Orlando,FL (USA) with 226 people on board, was preparing for departure still at the gate when both aft slides were deployed and an evacuation occurred via the slides as well as the jetway at the front. One passenger was taken to a hospital.

Emergency services reported one passenger was taken to a hospital with knee injuries received during a fall.

The airline is investigating the source of the odour stating there had been no visible smoke or fire.

The FAA released this statement: "Passengers evacuated Frontier Airlines Flight 1759 while it was still parked at the gate at Charlotte Douglas International Airport around 1:30 a.m. local time on Thursday, March 28, after the crew reported the smell of smoke in the cabin. Passengers in the front of the plane exited through the jet bridge. Passengers in the rear of the plane exited using slides. The Airbus A321 was scheduled to travel to Orlando International Airport in Florida. The FAA will investigate. "
