A Gol Transportes Aereos Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GXT performing flight G3-1843 from Navgantes,SC to Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil), had backtracked runway 25, turned around for departure. When applying takeoff thrust, large portions of the asphalt were blown up and hit the tailplane. The crew rejected takeoff at about 60 knots over ground and returned to the apron. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage to its tail plane.

The flight was cancelled.

The airport was closed for about 5 hours as result.
