A Gol Transportes Aereos Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GUM performing flight
G3-1497 from Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont,RJ to Salvador,BA (Brazil), was accelerating for takeoff when the crew rejected takeoff due to an engine (CFM56) failure. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.
A replacement Boeing 737-700 registration PR-GEK reached Salvador with a delay of about 3 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Rio de Janeiro about 22 hours after the rejected takeoff.
The airline reported the aircraft discontinued takeoff due to a technical problem.
