An Air India Boeing 777-200, registration VT-AEI performing flight
AI-119 from Mumbai (India) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was enroute at FL320 over Iran about 100nm northnorthwest of Zahedan (Iran) when the crew decided to turn around and return to Mumbai. The aircraft landed safely on Mumbai's runway 09 about 130 minutes after turning around.
The airline reported a minor technical problem. The passengers were offered hotel accomodation and alternative flights.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Mumbai about 16 hours after landing back.
