An Air India Express Boeing 737-800, registration VT-AYD performing flight IX-613 from Tiruchirappalli (India) to Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) with 161 people on board, was climbing out of Tiruchirappalli's runway 27 when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 due to a hydraulic failure. The crew decided to divert to Thiruvananthapuram for a safe landing on runway 32 about 65 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration VT-TGH reached Sharjah with a delay of about 7.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service after about 10.5 hours on the ground.
