An Air India Express Airbus A320-200N, registration VT-ATD performing flight
IX-1253 from Varanasi to Delhi (India) with 155 people on board, was enroute at FL320 about 50nm northwest of Lucknow (India) when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Lucknow due to a cargo smoke indication. The aircraft landed safely on Lucknow's runway 09 about 25 minutes later.
A replacement A320-200 registration VT-EXA reached Delhi with a delay of about 5:15 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lucknow about 14 hours after landing.
