An ITA Transportes Aereos (Itapemirim) Airbus A320-200, registration PS-SPJ performing flight 8I-5616 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP to Porto Alegre,RS (Brazil), was in the initial climb out of Guarulhos' runway 27R when the right hand engine (V2527) ingested at least one bird prompting the crew to stop the climb at 6000 feet and to return to Guarulhos for a safe landing on runway 27L about 15 minutes after departure.
The flight and other flights scheduled to be performed by PS-SPJ needed to be cancelled.
The aircraft returned to service about 20 hours after landing back.
